Under and Over Update

As you may have seen from our posts on Instagram over the last few months, we have been advertising Under and Over - our engineering based strategy game - as our first release under YNC Games.

We have been going through various levels of testing, as well as speaking to manufacturers about getting the game published, of course.

On the topic of manufacturing - the game has over 550 components, so it's an intricate task to make sure everything fits nicely in the box, without the box being too bulky or heavy, whilst also making sure the components are not too flimsy, and allow people of all abilities to be able to handle the components with ease.

On the topic of testing - we have received much valuable feedback on the game and, as expected, the wider audience we share the game with for testing, the more feedback (constructive and sometimes unexpected) we receive in response. We have the task of reviewing this feedback and deciding which suggestions we would like to take forward, how we would use the feedback to develop the game or instructions.

So far, we have received very positive feedback about the game, but we still feel there are some improvements we can make to the game to take it to the next level. The combination of testing feedback and manufacturing intricacies means that, with the number of components involved, and the potential for some improvements to have an impact on the components, we are not yet ready to open up our Kickstarter campaign.

We are disappointed because, as you can see from our Instagram page, we really did expect this campaign to be available to you before Christmas, but we also do not want any disappointed customers if we push the release of the game before we make the latest tweaks to further improve the game.

After a lot of contemplation, we have decided to delay the release of Under and Over to allow us some time to work on the game and Introduction to Engineering booklet some more. The game will still be released, but this will now be in 2023.

In the meantime though, as you may have read from our last Blog post, we have over 20+ games in various stages of development. This means that there are other games that are much closer to completion that we will release now ahead of Under and Over - see the next Blog post for further details!
